Impressed Current Anode

Deep Well Anode

Deep-well anode-bed installation for impressed-current cathodic protection where surface space and separation from protected structures are important.

Conceptual arrangement

Deep discharge zone

A deep-well installation can place the anode discharge zone away from surface structures. Actual depth and configuration must be established by engineering design.

Overview

Product overview

Deep-well anode-bed installation for impressed-current cathodic protection where surface space and separation from protected structures are important.

A deep-well anode bed is a system, not simply a standalone anode product. Borehole design, anode spacing, backfill, cable, venting and electrical output should be engineered together.

Installation concept

Multiple anodes are installed vertically in a borehole / deep-well arrangement, placing the current discharge area deeper below grade.

Site advantages

The company describes small surface footprint, potentially lower grounding resistance, good current distribution and reduced interference with nearby buried metallic structures as advantages of deep-well systems.

Engineering considerations

Deep-well systems require careful design of anode placement, cable routing, venting / gas management, backfill and maintenance strategy. Cost and service life must be evaluated for the specific project.
